Alalum Falls in Kisolon, Sumilao, Bukidnon

On our way from Malaybalay City to Cagayan de Oro City, we stopped along the highway of Kisolon, Sumilao, Bukidnon to take a closer look of the Alalum Falls. With a height of approximately 148 feet and surrounded by lush vegetation, Alalum Falls serves as the boundary of the municipalites of Impasug-ong and Sumilao.

There is a viewing area right beside the highway which offers a great view of the falls. It is sad to note, however, that the concrete structures are vandalized by some irresponsible people. Needless to say, it spoiled the wonderful view.

There is a concrete stairway that leads down to the bottom of the falls.

Due to time constraint, I only descended halfway so that I could take photo of the basin which catches the cascading waters from up above.

On my way up, I was awed by the breathtaking view of the greenery within the vicinity of Alalum Falls:

Its proximity to the national highway makes Alalum Falls easily accessible to tourists passing by. Definitely, it is the most famous attraction in the town of Sumilao. In fact, Alalum Falls has been featured in Out of Town Blog and Byahilo, two of the top travel blogs in the Philippines.

  1. Hi Earl - I've noticed this view deck so many times I travelled to Malaybalay but didn't realise there's a waterfall there. Have you got an idea how many steps we have to take from top to bottom? Thanks for this info - I'll definitely stop by next time I'm in the area.

  2. Hi Maam Marilou! I could not tell you many steps from top to bottom since I did not go all the way down to the falls' basin. I guess the spot where I took the topmost photo is already halfway down.

  5. Malaybalay is about 92 kilometers from Cagayan de Oro City. If you're coming from CDO, you will pass by this falls before arriving in Malaybalay.

  6. Really? That's great. I am planning to go in Bukidnon. Can it be seen from the highway or the vehicle should go up somewhere to reach the falls? Thanks for the information anyway.
