Participated by genuine lumads of the province of Bukidnon, Kaamulan Festival is dubbed as the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines. Cueshe Live In Sumilao (June 28, 2014)
Cueshe, the pop rock band behind the hit singles "Stay", "Sorry", "Ulan", "Pasensya Na" and "Borrowed Time" will perform live in Sumilao Municipal Gymnasium, Kisolon, Sumilao, Bukidnon on June 28, 2014 at 7 PM. The concert is presented by the Municipality of Sumilao in cooperation with Rudirex Productions, Mayor Rey Baula and Councilor Jim Baula. This activity is part of the 58th Araw ng Sumilao celebration. Ticket price is only 100 pesos.

The 95th Bukidnon Foundation Day Parade
The commemoration of the 95th Bukidnon Foundation Day last Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Malaybalay City officially ended the 3-week long celebration of the 2012 Kaamulan Festival. A grand civic parade participated by officials and employess of Bukidnon LGUs, Provincial Government offices, schools, national agencies and private corporations was held in the morning. The long parade passed through the main highway of Malaybalay City proper and ended in the Capitol Grounds.

Kaamulan Festival 2012: Pamuhat Ritual Before the Street Dancing
A Pamuhat Ritual was conducted before the start of yesterday's Kaamulan Festival Ethnic Street Dancing Competition (March 3, 2012) in Malaybalay City. The ritual was held to seek blessings from the spirits for the success of the Kaamulan Festival celebration. The Pamuhat ceremony, usually led by tribal leaders called Datu (for male) and Bae (for female), involves prayers, chants and offering of food, money and drinks.

After the soft opening last February 16, 2012, Bukidnon's Kaamulan Festival is now on full swing. Food fest booths are already in operation as well as the agri trade fair and bazaars. On-going Kaamulan activities include the photo exhibit and the nightly Kaamulan Jam.

2012 Kaamulan Festival Update: Construction of Food Fest Booths in the Capitol Grounds
I passed along the Capitol Grounds in Malaybalay City this morning and observed the on going construction of several Food Fest booths. The Food Fest has always been one of Kaamulan Festival's top crowd drawers as it is in these booths where people converged to eat, drink and be merry. Kaamulan Festival 2012 will kickstart with a "soft opening" on February 16 while the grand opening will be held on February 25.

A Year-End Fun Run for Sendong Victims
Dagan Alang Sa Nabaha-an (Run for Sendong Victims) was a fitting way to cap my whole year round of running. Held on the last day of 2011 (Dec.31, Saturday) in my hometown Malaybalay City, the charity run aimed to raise funds for the benefits of Typhoon Sendong victims which recently battered Northern Mindanao.

A year-end fun run for the benefits of Typhoon Sendong victims will be held in Malaybalay City on December 31, 2011. Dubbed as Dagan Alang sa Nabaha-an (for Bagyong Sendong Victims), the event will start at 5:00 AM in Plaza Rizal, Malaybalay City. There will be two categories: 3K open and 3K for boys and girls 12 years old and below.

Bukidnon Runners Among The Top Finishers of Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2011
Three runners from Bukidnon were among the Top 20 finishers of the 25th Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon held last October 22-23, 2011 in Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia. Jemarvin Cabilan and Leo Colonia placed 11th and 12th, respectively in the Men's Open while Helen Tacling was the 20th placer in the Women's Open category.
The Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon is dubbed as the world's toughest mountain race. It is the ultimate test of endurance as participants have to run up and down Mt. Kinabalu for a total distance of 21 kilometers. This year's edition was won by Kilian Jornet of Spain who finished the 21-km course in 2:37:04. In the women's category, Danny Gongot of Ranau, Malaysia bagged the first place with a time of 3:41:29.

Tanduay First 5 in Malaybalay: Concert Wrap Up
In one truly unforgettable and explosive night, five of the country's best rock bands rocked Malaybalay City in the Tanduay First Five concert last Friday, October 21, 2011. Me, my wife and my friends were among the thousands of people who trooped to the Capitol Grounds to witness the momentous occasion. The Tanduay First Five is a nationwide concert tour featuring Chicosci, Sandwich, Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar and Wolfgang.

I joined the 1st Intavas-Kibenton Eco-Trail Fun Run last August 7, 2011. The event was participated by no less than 200 runners and the race route started from Sitio Intavas, La Fortuna up to Barangay Kibenton, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

Takbo Para Sa Bayanihan was held last July 23, 2011 at the 403rd Infantry Brigade Compound, Impalambong, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. The trail run was part of the brigade's 38th anniversary celebration. There were three categories in this run: 12K, 7K and 3K.

Panaw sa Kinabuhi ug Kalinaw (The Anti-Reproductive Health Bill March)
A march rally opposing House Bill 4244 (Reproductive Health/Responsible Parenthood Bill) was held today, March 25, 2011 in Malaybalay City. The rally, called Panaw sa Kinabuhi ug Kalinaw (March for Life and Peace), was organized by the Diocese of Malaybalay as part of the Catholic Church's nation-wide campaign to oppose the Reproductive Health Bill.
