Field Work Photos: Matampay, Kadingilan, Bukidnon

In one of my earlier field works, I reached Barangay Matampay in Kadingilan, Bukidnon. Matampay is one of the seventeen barangays of Kadingilan, and is one of the most far-flung and hard-to-reach areas of this 4th class municipality of the province.

It took more than one hour of motorcycle ride before we reached this barangay. From the Poblacion, we passed through the barangays of Pay-as, Bagor, San Andres, Mabuhay and Cabadiangan. Upon reaching Cabadiangan, we have to go through a steep uphill road before reaching Matampay. It was one rough, bumpy and butt-numbing ride all the way.

The Green Hills of Barangay San Miguel, Maramag

In an official field work, I, together with an officemate, went to Purok 6, Barangay San Miguel, Maramag, Bukidnon last week for a client visit and farm inspection. Purok 6 is an uphill area located about 3 kilometers from San Miguel barangay proper and national highway going to Wao, Lanao del Sur. It can be reached through a dirt road with stretches that are difficult to pass along during rainy season. Fortunately, we were aboard our client's 4-wheel drive vehicle so going there was just a breeze.

Most of these barangays are considered "rural" where farming is the main economic activity. With the Pulangi River traversing these barangays,  vast tracks of fertile lands are devoted to agriculture, particularly rice farming. Hence Valencia City is dubbed as The City of Golden Harvest.
