It was an unforgettable Easter Sunday last April 24 as I was among the many participants of the 1st Bukidnon Run With Faith held at the Bukidnon Provincial Tree Park in Malaybalay City. The trail run dubbed as an Inter-Faith Run for Special Education aims to promote awareness for Special Education or education for those with hearing and visual impairment and children with autism and intellectual disability.
There were three categories: 10K, 5K and 2.5K Family. Despite knowing that the trail is quite hard and steep in some areas(we went trail hiking in this route last February), still I decided to go for the 10k event. I did not aim to be among the top finishers, as I only want to enjoy the view, take photos along the way and reached the finish line intact (!)
After a short program at the Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater, the run started at 8:30 AM.

Here are some of the photos I took during the run:
Ready....
Get set....
Go!!!
Running into the woods
The first difficult part of the trail: crossing a small creek then climbing a slippery slope.
The climb to the first peak--long and hard!
The view of Malaybalay City seen from the first peak
A steep descent followed next
Another long run then another steep climb
Halfway to the top of the second peak, we rested and marveled at this awesome view
Amazing view at the top of the second peak (which I guess is already part of Mt. Tralala)
Another view of Malaybalay City
The final ascent to the Two Trees
My friend James exhilarated at the top
Finish line, finally!
My Merrell Waterpro survived the trail run!

I reached the finish line with a time of 2 hours and 4 minutes while my friend James arrived a minute earlier. Though we fell short of our 2-hour target, we were very satisfied with the experience of running the challenging trail, climbing the steep slopes and appreciating the breathtaking vista of Bukidnon.
Cool! I saw photos taken by a friend, her shoes were muddy too :) Congrats for making it to the finish line!
