A Windmill in Valencia City

We pass along this beautiful sight of a windmill in Pinatilan, Valencia City one hot Tuesday afternoon during our field work. We were on our way to Valencia City proper from Paitan, Quezon, Bukidnon when caught this awesome view of the windmill amidst the vast farm lands and the rugged Bukidnon mountains in the background.

There is a signboard attached to the windmill but we could not read the sign since we are too far away. Our guess is that this windmill is inside DRV Resort but we are really not that sure since we haven't gone inside that resort yet.

According to wikipedia, "a windmill is a machine which converts the energy of wind into rotational motion by means of adjustable vanes called sails or blades. The main use was originally for a grinding mill, reducing a solid or coarse substance into pulp or minute grains, by crushing, grinding, or pressing. Windmills have also been used to power sawmills and other industrial processes and as windpumps for obtaining fresh water from underground or for drainage of land".

If this windmill is indeed owned by DRV Resort, then this is probably used in pumping underground water to fill up their swimming pool.

For whatever purpose it may serve, this windmill in Pinatilan, Valencia City is an example of utilizing clean and renewable energy. Another project that is pro-environment, just like my previous post about a solar-powered community in Kadingilan, Bukidnon.

  2. Yep. It is inside DRV Family Resort and it is used to pump water for the swimming pool. I think it's the only windmill found in Bukidnon....
