Running Events in Malaybalay City

Running along the Del Monte pineapple fields in Casisang, Malaybalay City during the Run for the Forests

"Running fever" hits Malaybalay City as three running events were held during the month of June 2011. It was a great opportunity for running enthusiasts like me as we don't have to travel to far away places just to join organized races.

21K runners at the starting line of Dinaganay sa Malaybalay

The first run was dubbed as Dinaganay sa Malaybalay held last June 11. The run was part of the activities for the 134th Araw ng Malaybalay and was sponsored by the city Government. It was during this event where I finished my first ever 21K run. (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT DINAGANAY SA MALAYBALAY).

5K runners during the DXBU Fun Run

On the Saturday that followed (June 18), the DXBU Fun Run was held at the Bukidnon State University. Proceeds of this run was for the benefits of Special Education (SPED) students. I ran 10K in this race. (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THE DXBU FUN RUN).

The picturesque trail of Run for the Forests

And finally, last June 26 was the Run for the Forests. With starting line at the BLISS Covered Court in Casisang, the race route covered a scenic trail of banana plantaion, pineapple fields and mountain view. The run was held in celebration of the International Year of the Forests and supported the reforestation project in Brgy. Kebenton, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.(CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT RUN FOR THE FORESTS).

It is a good thing that running events are now becoming popular in Malaybalay. This not only promote the health benefits of the sport, it is also a way of helping others through charitable and other organizations. How I wish this "fever" would hit entire Bukidnon soon!

  1. wow! this is cool, we've been to this area at Del Monte Farms 2 weeks ago as one of our stops in our Cagayan Trip, and it's actually very nice to be there, more so running amidst the limitless view of the pineapples. I should have known of your blog earlier so that i could have known of valuable infos you have provided here. Hope you can post links or contacts of transportation that we can rent out on going there from CDO. Thanks. http://estoryahe-tanancebu.blogspot.com
